Kathryne, of Cookie & Kate, and Rehan inquired about having Archer video film their wedding a few months prior to their big day. We met at Quay Coffee to discuss their wedding video ideas and details of the event. Rehan asked some deep questions during the meeting that sort of caught me off guard. I quickly learned that he was knowledgeable about story telling and wanted his wedding video to unique. I didn’t know until a after our meeting of his previous job of hosting a show on the DIY Channel! Some couples are shy having cameras on them for an entire day but I knew Rehan, with his past experience hosting a TV show, and Kathryne, running a popular blog, would be completely comfortable.
Kathryne & Rehan requested something a little different in their wedding video than most couples. They wanted time dedicated for family and friends to be interviewed. This was a fun way to get the family members involved with the video and for me to get to know them individually. They told stories of growing up with Kathryne and Rehan, gave marriage advice, and ended with a “best wishes” message.
The weather was absolutely beautiful and perfect – short of a freak 10 minute hail storm. This increased the humidity slightly, which isn’t the best recipe for a cameraman wearing a chest plate and carrying 25lbs of gear. I was dripping in sweat to say the least.
The couple had their ceremony and reception in the Kemper Museum. Their ceremony was perfectly lit with natural light coming through the modern transparent roof. The reception was such a fun party from start to finish. The couple departed from the event with their friends and family cheering them on. They jumped into Rehan’s tan Land Cruiser tricked out with a PA speaker and headed off to start their lives together as husband and wife.
It’s such a huge honor to have the responsibility of being a couple’s wedding videographer. Video offers details of a wedding day that no other medium can offer. Congratulations to the newlyweds, and thank you for trusting us to film your wedding!
